SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Overview

NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce enables online backup services over a TP/IP connection, and consists of client and server components. NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Server installs on Windows 2003 or 2008 R2 servers, and is responsible for handling all client backup and restore requests. Internet transactions are done securely and all data stored on the server is encrypted. NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Client supports Windows 7, 2003, XP, Vista, and 2008.

Installation

Self-extracting install, available by download or from a CD-ROM. Plug-ins do not require separate installation if the client is connected to an Advanced Backup Server and has a supported application or operating system.

	Why is FastBIT important? If you are an end-user, the efficiency of FastBIT will dramatically reduce the time required to backup your data from any network location, include slow dialup connections. If you are the server administrator, FastBIT will minimize your overall bandwidth utilization for a large installed base. FastBIT will also provide the most cost-effective method of storing ongoing file histories for every user. FastBIT backups can be 15 times smaller than the nearest competitor. That means NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce will only need 10 Gigabytes for user data that would need up to 150 Gigabytes of storage using competitive software for the same amount of user data. _____________________________________________________________________________
	How does the licensing work? The client and server software are NOT sold separately. Since a NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Client must communicate with a NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Server, all of the licensing is controlled on the server. Licensing is managed on a "per computer" basis. This means a 10-user NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce license will allow 10 computers to backup to the NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Server. These 10 licenses can be used in any combination, such as 10 users each backing up only their local system or 2 users backing up 5 computers each, etc. _____________________________________________________________________________
	How do I upgrade licensing for an increased number of online backup service users? Since the NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Server manages all the licensing, any changes in licensing must be done on the system running the NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce software, in the Backup Server Configuration Manager. _____________________________________________________________________________
	Can we remotely manage our NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce server administration? Yes. With NovaStor's new Remote Manager you can manage all of your NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Backup Servers from any central location. As an extension to NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Backup Server Configuration Manager, you can remotely manage and communicate with more than one backup server to create centralized management from anywhere in the world. 	What is the Commerce Server and how does it simplify my customers’ account management? The Commerce Server is a free add-on. As service provider you need to install the Commerce Server in order to make your online storage available to your online backup customers. Once the Commerce Server is installed you can make your pricing, contract details and terms of use available to your customer via the NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Client user interface. The Commerce Server offers you and your customers great ease-of-use when creating an online storage account with your service. _____________________________________________________________________________
	Is it possible to download a demo version of the Exchange or SQL plugin for NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce? The Exchange and SQL plugins are actually included in the demo client when you download the client. There is nothing more to install on the client machine besides the NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce client software. The plugins are initially installed with a 30 day demo license. _____________________________________________________________________________
	What platforms does NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce support? NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce includes client and server software with different requirements. Please refer to the NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce data sheet to view the supported systems and system requirements. The NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Client software communicates to the NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Server using the TCP/IP protocol. _____________________________________________________________________________
	Can you backup other platforms with my NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Client software? NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Client software will only run natively on the supported operating systems (see data sheet). If you want to backup computers with other operating systems, it is possible. Here's how... Since the NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Client supports mapped network drives and the Network Neighborhood, it can backup data from any computer that is accessible via the network. A single NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce Client can backup the local computer and any number of local or remote network computers using NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce's powerful user interface. _____________________________________________________________________________
	Can I upgrade the amount of users using my original license? Yes. You can increase the number of allowable users on your backup service by upgrading your NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce license.
