Failed to execute SystemStateBackupRestore plugin: exception

I getting these errors.
--- Warnings -------------------------------------------------------------------
Open File Backup : Exception recieved while attempting to snap volumes
: System error 8000ffff: Catastrophic failure
: The operation will continue without VSS support

Failed to execute SystemStateBackupRestore plugin: exception thrown.

Any ideas of what's causing them?

You Have Corrupted VSS

this is the correct procedure to follow when re-registering the Volume Shadow Copy service DLL's.

Please keep in mind that some of the above will fail. Please proceed with the rest.

Go to Start>Run and type in: 

command    (Then hit [ENTER])
 
That Will Open Command Prompt

Type in this command in dos window:

CD  \Windows\System32

 (Then hit [ENTER])

Then run those commands:

Net stop vss
Net stop swprv
regsvr32 ole32.dll
regsvr32 vss_ps.dll
Vssvc /Register
regsvr32 /i swprv.dll
regsvr32 /i eventcls.dll
regsvr32 es.dll
regsvr32 stdprov.dll
regsvr32 vssui.dll
regsvr32 msxml.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml4.dll

Reboot your computer.

I was told by support to uninstall an old version of Backup Exec and to register the files as you suggested. Got rid of the:

Open File Backup : Exception recieved while attempting to snap volumes
: System error 8000ffff: Catastrophic failure
: The operation will continue without VSS support

The backup ran fine 2 nights and now I'm getting the:

Failed to execute SystemStateBackupRestore plugin: exception thrown.

message again.
