NovaNET Network Backup Software Delivers Reliable, Low-Cost Storage Management Solutions to Benchmark Tape Systems’ DLT Products
Simi Valley, Calif. — February 23, 2000 — NovaStor Corporation
announced today that the latest release of their high performance network backup software,
NovaNET for Windows 2000, NT, NetWare and Linux, supports the Benchmark DLT1 tape drive
and DLT7 autoloader. The unique feature set of NovaStor’s NovaNET offers new power and
freedom to Benchmark customers. NovaNET gives Benchmark users the ability to quickly
backup multiple servers and workstations in a mixed Windows 2000, NT, NetWare, and Linux
network environment. System administrators using Benchmark tape drives with NovaNET
can control their entire network backup configuration without leaving their own desktop.
"NovaStor’s software combined with the Benchmark DLT1 tape drive or DLT7 autoloader offers
remarkable value in a complete DLT storage solution" said Lew Frauenfelder, President of
Benchmark Tape Systems. "The reliability of these products will provide our customers with
dependable tape backup and restore for a long time to come. Used with Benchmark’s DLT7
autoloader, NovaNET supports the lowest cost half-terabyte capacity automation solution
currently available."
"This combination offers proven DLT storage solutions that users can trust," said Peter
Means, President of NovaStor. "NovaStor’s NovaNET software combined with Benchmark's
DLT products provides users with a fast, easy, robust and affordable Windows 2000, NT,
NetWare and Linux server backup solution."
The Benchmark DLT1 tape drive has an 80 GB compressed capacity and 6 MB/second
transfer rate. The Benchmark DLT1 is read-compatible with the DLT4000. The Benchmark
DLT7 autoloader has a seven cartridge 560 GB compressed capacity and a single drive
performance of 6 MB/second native transfer rate. It features an LCD display, menu-driven
commands, and sequential or random access capabilities.
With the release of NovaNET, NovaStor has introduced new plug-ins for Disaster Recovery
and Storage Area Network (SAN) support. In addition to these new plug-ins, NovaNET also
supports plug-ins for SQL server, Exchange server, Open file backup, Clustered servers and
Autoloaders.
The NovaNET product line continues to be one of the fastest and most flexible backup
solutions available. With its Distributed Architecture, any number of servers or
workstations can host a backup device that can be used to backup any other computers on
the network. This technology enables NovaNET to generate extremely fast backup times by
simultaneously writing to multiple tape devices.
Pricing for NovaNET starts at $349 and is currently available directly from NovaStor
Corporation and NovaStor’s registered national and international resellers. NovaNET
is also available from major U.S. distributors Ingram Micro, Tech Data and Merisel.
