NovaStor Announces a Powerful Range of Backup Software for Linux
NovaNET for Linux, Backup Software for Single Servers
and Enterprise Networks Running Linux
Simi Valley, Calif. — April 26, 2000 — NovaStor Corporation
announces the release of a new version of their NovaNET tape backup software family,
NovaNET for Linux. NovaNET for Linux offers users a cost effective and powerful
backup software solution for all of the popular Linux distributions. NovaNET for
Linux is available in three versions ranging from support for a single server with a
local tape drive, to a network of multiple Linux servers and Windows workstations with
multiple tape drives. All versions include free autoloader support and remote management
from the administrator’s desktop. NovaStor has also added Linux support to their award
winning NovaNET Alliance multi-operating system backup software which also supports
Windows 2000/NT and NetWare. NovaNET Alliance is the ideal backup solution for any
company that has added Linux to their existing network and requires or would prefer a
single standard of backup across all their operating systems.
NovaStor’s President and CEO, Peter Means, comments, "Many companies are adding Linux
servers to service specific markets. These servers are often critical to their business
and demand the same level of protection as other servers." Means continues, "NovaNET for
Linux is an ideal way for these customers to protect the valuable data on their Linux servers.
Furthermore, with our new NovaNET Alliance product, our customers can now backup their Windows,
NetWare and Linux servers using a single backup software standard."
With the release of NovaNET for Linux, NovaStor has introduced two new "plug-ins". The
first, Storage Area Network (SAN) plug-in, enables NovaNET for Linux to work effectively
with high-speed fibre channel storage networks. The second is a plug-in for Advanced
Autoloaders with support for up to 1000 slots.
The NovaNET product line continues to be one of the fastest and most flexible backup
solutions available today. With its unique Distributed Architecture, any number of servers
or workstations can host a backup device that can be used to backup any other servers on the
network. This technology also enables NovaNET for Linux to generate some of the fastest
backup times ever recorded, with its ability to simultaneously write to multiple tape
devices.
Pricing of NovaNET for Linux starts at $349 and is currently available directly from
NovaStor Corporation, NovaStor’s Registered Resellers and major U.S. distributors including
Ingram Micro, Tech Data and Merisel. NovaNET for Linux supports the following Linux
distributions: Red Hat, Corel, TurboLinux, Caldera, SuSe, Mandrake and Slackware. NovaNET
for Linux is also available in the following languages: English, French, Italian, German and
Spanish.
