NovaStor Press Release

NovaStor adds Disaster Recovery for Linux to Network Backup
Disaster Recovery for Linux is added to the NovaNET family of backup products

Simi Valley, Ca. — August 29th, 2002 — NovaStor Corporation has issued an updated release of NovaNET, their popular network backup product, to include Disaster Recovery support for Linux systems. As more Linux systems are implemented into business networks, NovaStor's disaster recovery support for Linux adds to the existing support for Windows and NetWare environments. The Linux Disaster Recovery component is sold as an optional plug-in to NovaStor's NovaNET network backup solution.

According to IDC, Linux is the fastest growing computing platform; expected to grow 174 percent to US$5.9 billion by 2006. Many of these Linux installations are among other Windows or NetWare servers which makes NovaNET an ideal solution because of its ability to support Linux, Windows and NetWare from a single unified interface.

The NovaNET Disaster Recovery for Linux enables all NovaNET backups to be disaster-ready. NovaNET helps the user create a bootable CD or floppy diskette that can be used to recover the contents of any backup. HP's One Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR) is also supported which enables customers to boot into a recovery mode from the tape backup device instead of a CD or floppy.

Traditional backup solutions are only capable of recovering data files within a properly functioning environment. This is sufficient for most day-to-day file recoveries, but falls short when disasters strike. The disaster recovery plug-in enables the rapid recovery the entire contents of a server after any type of disaster.

The NovaNET Disaster Recovery for Linux is available from NovaStor's online store or a NovaStor sales representative. NovaNET products are also available to resellers via Ingram Micro. NovaNET Disaster Recovery for Linux is tested in Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSE, Debian and Slackware Linux distributions. NovaStor offers free technical support to all customers.
