NovaStor Announces Official Support for Amazon AWS Storage Gateway (VTL) Virtual Tape Library with NovaStor’s DataCenter Backup Solution
NovaStor is proud to announce that Amazon’s AWS Storage Gateway now supports NovaStor DataCenter versions 6 and 7 with the Tape Gateway virtual tape library (VTL). Amazon’s Tape Gateway helps organizations make a smooth transition from tape to cloud backup, using NovaStor DataCenter backup software. Organizations can now eliminate the operational burden of provisioning, scaling, and maintaining a physical tape infrastructure.
Application data is simply backed up locally to a caching appliance, which then stores the data in a VTL backed by durable Amazon S3 storage. This preserves all of the existing tape management processes making life easy for backup administrators, providing the ability to archive backups to Amazon Glacier for long-term retention.
AWS Storage Gateway is HIPAA eligible. If you have an executed Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with AWS, you can use Storage Gateway to store, backup and archive protected health information (PHI) on scalable, cost-effective, and secure AWS storage services, including Amazon S3, Amazon Glacier and Amazon EBS, which are also HIPAA eligible.
If you are interested in talking about the AWS VTL setup a call with our Backup Experts to see if it's a good fit for you, and get help configuring it in your NovaStor DataCenter environment.
Tape Gateway, with support for NovaStor DataCenter, is available in all AWS regions where Storage Gateway is available (except for Sao Paulo).
